By prospectOctober frde, in Logic Pro. I’m getting back to Logic from Ableton and I’m encountering one of the problems adobe acrobat dc pro spooked me away from Logic a few years ago. The short version of it logic pro x input monitoring while playing free I can’t consistently listen to my inputs while on playback.
When the song is monitoriny, I can hear my input. When I press play, there is no audio monitoring even though I have «I» and «R» – or a combination of the two selected. Sometimes it logic pro x input monitoring while playing free works, but sometimes it doesn’t.

The «R button» should not be armed. Unarm it so that only the «R» in the button is red and make sure the monitor is armed as well. Once you are ready to record press record and the the «R Button» will automatically arm.

I had my input set to the macbook pro’s internal mic.. I start brush my finger over the area on the mac speaker with the mic, and I can hear the scratchy scratchy sound coming through the speakers of my finger going over the mic area. Software monitoring needs to be left on if you’re not monitoring through a piece of hardware. It allows you to monitor the input through Logic. It should only be turned off if you’re monitoring off a device for «Zero-Latency Monitoring.
I’m having the same problem with Logic 9. Auto Input monitoring isn’t really working how you would expect it too. No matter how I set it, it runs like Input only monitoring, making it really hard to make punch in recordings..

One is the orange ‘i’ button on the arrange window track, the other is the ‘Auto Input Monitoring’ item under the main menu. I was just having this problem today and had to go under the dropdown menu to deselect the A.
M option, and then turn on the orange ‘i’ track button. Not sure if others are having the same behavior. The other one is the Input Monitoring and it’s the «i» button on the track.
